Bird droppings can be a serious issue if they are allowed to accumulate in one place. Most people like pigeons and feed them in parks and even on the street.

Diseases From Bird Droppings
Psittacosis: Psittacosis has the alternative name of ‘Parrot Fever’ although it can be spread by any infected bird, including pigeons. You can be infected by inhaling dust from dried droppings. If you have been infected, you should display symptoms within one or two weeks. These are commonly pain in your abdomen, diarrhoea and a general feeling of being unwell.
Salmonella: Salmonella is another bacterial disease that can be contracted by inhaling the very small dust particles caused by disturbing dried bird droppings. Bird droppings can also be contaminated with fungus spores which may be inhaled if dried droppings get walked through or disturbed in any other way.
Mites: Mites can also breed in pigeon mess. It is a haven of droppings and feathers that is a mite’s paradise. Mites not only suck your blood and potentially give you an allergic reaction, but they can also pass on diseases.
Where Pigeons Roost
Favourite roosting or resting places for such birds are window ledges, balconies, roofs, trees and disused buildings.
It is when their droppings aggregate or become more widespread due to them not being cleaned up, that you can have a serious health problem.
Accumulations of dried bird droppings can host a number of bacteria, viruses or fungus spores. These present a serious hazard to the health of you and your family.
If these dried up droppings are disturbed, such pathogens can spread into the air and ingested by breathing.
