Rodents: Mice And Rats
Mice and rats will hunt for food in your house and in your business premises. Many people associate rats with poor hygiene or cleanliness, but that is not necessarily the case. Here are some signs that you may have these rodents on your premises:
Droppings. Brown rat droppings are like dark brown rice grains, maybe slight larger and thicker but not much. Mouse droppings are smaller, but still elongated and about the same size as a basmati rice grain.
Nibbles: If you that find any foodstuff you left lying open, such as a cake, biscuit or anything else, has been nibbled at then it is probably a rodent responsible. However, the droppings are the definitive clue and it is these that most people see first. Then they begin looking for other signs. But where do they come from:
Holes: Holes in your skirting board indicate rodents. The hole or gap can be a half-inch or so in height and length. Look around the outside of your premises. Rats and mice can make holes into your home or premises if it senses food inside. Crevices are also popular, and they can even get under your door if you can push a pencil though the gap.
Toilets and Sink Holes: Check out this National Geographic video – it will make you think. Rats not only get inside via holes, but also via your toilet. You will also be amazed at how small these gaps have to be to allow rats in – mice are smaller so think about it! The same is true for sinks – anything connected to the outside or to sewers via pipes are challenges to rodents – and they usually win!
